Family, members of law enforcement, and elected officials gathered in Richmond Thursday to add the names of fallen officers to the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial.

This was the 25th annual memorial service.

During the service, Governor Beshear read the names of two of the newest additions to the wall.

“Today, we add the names of two officers we lost in 2024, Sargent William “Marty” Jackson of the Winchester Police Department and Deputy Sheriff Joshua C. Phipps of the Russell County Sheriff's Office.”

Governor Beshear said it is important to remember these officers and what they sacrificed for the commonwealth.

“When we add a name to this memorial, it is more than an act of duty, it is a sacred vow that these officers' sacrifices will never be forgotten, and it is a vow that we will never forget these families.”

Governor Beshear said it is essential to invest in the safety and success of up-and-coming officers who are about to graduate from training.

Eight other historical officers were added to the wall.

There are now over 600 names on the memorial located at the Department of Criminal Justice Training on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.
