WEKU proudly partners with the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program to accept vehicle donations and relies on listeners like you to deliver your favorite programs such as Here & Now, Morning Edition, and Eastern Standard. When you donate your car, truck, motorcycle, boat, or RV to WEKU, you'll receive a tax deduction while supporting your favorite NPR station.

How to Donate Your Car

1. Start your WEKU car donation by filling out the online donation form or by
calling 877-215-0227.

2. A licensed towing agent will contact you within 2-3 business days to schedule a free pick up time.

3. After your car is sold, you’ll be emailed a tax receipt.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of vehicles are accepted?
We accept almost all running and non-functioning vehicle donations. Trucks, motorcycles, boats, RVs, heavy equipment and other vehicles are accepted on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions about a vehicle you’d like to donate, give us a call at 877-215-0227.

Do both parties have to be present to transfer a car title in KY?
Under most circumstances, both individuals whose names are on the title must sign. However, if there is an ‘or’ in between the names, only one signature is required. Instructions on how to sign your Kentucky title over to our processing agent, Advanced Remarketing Services, will be emailed to you after you submit the donation form. You can also view Kentucky title transfer instructions online or call us at 877-215-0227.

How much money will WEKU receive from my car donation?
Our trusted processing partner, Advanced Remarketing Services, returns at least 70% of the gross proceeds from your car donation to WEKU, the highest of any vehicle donation program!

What happens to cars donated to NPR?
The cars donated to WEKU are sold to support independent journalism in Central and Eastern Kentucky. If older or junk cars are donated, we make sure they are sustainably recycled.

How much of a tax write-off is donating a car?
The amount that is tax-deductible is equal to the sale price of your vehicle. If your car sold for less than $500, you can claim the fair market value of the vehicle up to $499. If your vehicle sells for more than $500 and you want to claim the full amount when itemizing taxes, an IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes will be mailed to you. This form will be your tax receipt for your vehicle donation. Please consult with your tax advisor on the best way to claim your WEKU car donation tax deduction.
