Mike Savage
Director & General ManagerMike Savage joined WEKU in 2018 as Director & General Manager. He has worked in public radio for more than 30 years leading public radio stations in Georgia, Illinois, and Indiana. As WEKU Director & General Manager, Mike oversees all station operations including development, programming, and news.
Mike serves on the board of the Association of Kentucky Public Radio Stations (Kentucky Public Radio). He also serves on the NPR Board as the Chair of the Distribution and Interconnection Committee and he also serves on the Membership Committee. Mike holds the distinction of being the only station manager to have been elected to the NPR Board by station petition twice, in 2014 and 2019. In 2022, Mike was re-elected to serve a final 3-year term on the national board.
Mike has a Master's degree in Mass Communication and a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and has been honored with dozens of journalism awards by the Society for Professional Journalists and Associated Press. Mike has been named to the Best Managers in Radio list by Radio Ink Magazine five times since 2015.
