Lexington is accepting applications from teachers to take part in its annual environmental academy.
The week-long workshop invites teachers to learn about Lexington’s environmental programs, and take that knowledge back to their classrooms. They’ll focus on topics like water quality, sustainability and waste management at different facilities around the city.
The program is open to those who teach any grade, including public, private or homeschool educators.
Danny Woolums is the city’s Environmental Education Program Manager. He says the workshop has engaged teachers involved with a variety of subjects.
“There's been a little bit of pockets of information for every kind of teacher we've encountered, and we're pretty open with who we kind of allow through our program, as long as they are engaging with students.”
Information on how teachers can apply is available here. The deadline to apply is May 16.
