Eastern Kentucky University announced what it calls short term furloughs of 60 employees over the summer to help deal with a seven million dollar budget shortfall in this fiscal year.
In an e-mail to faculty and staff, EKU Interim President David McFaddin said the university's budget has been impacted by an enrollment decline along with housing and dining credits being returned to students due to the closing of in-person classes because of Covid-19.
The Universities HR department will be working with affected employees to help apply for unemployment insurance.
