FEMA reminds storm victims of ways to replace important documents

FEMA.gov

FEMA is reminding those affected by February storms they can get documents like IDs, birth certificates or insurance papers replaced if they were damaged or lost.

Those who need insurance papers replaced should reach out to their provider and ask for a copy, including its declaration page.

Birth certificates can be replaced by reaching out to the Kentucky Office of VItal Statistics. They can be ordered online, through mail or in person.

Drivers licenses can be replaced at Kentucky Transportation Cabinet regional offices throughout the state.

Social Security cards can be replaced either online or at a local office.

Medicare cards can also be replaced online or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE.

Copies of tax returns or military service records can also be replaced online.

FEMA says assistance to get those documents replaced is available at disaster recovery centers across Kentucky. There are 14 such centers in the state’s central and eastern regions.
