Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton has declared a State of Emergency in Fayette County, effective until 8:00 a.m. on Monday.
The declaration is issued in response to the severe weather affecting a significant portion of Kentucky. The severe weather has continued to produce heavy rain, damaging winds, severe hail, tornadoes, and flooding.
Rainfall from this historic storm outbreak has left the state vulnerable to damage to public infrastructure and private property caused by flooding and flash flooding.
The State of Emergency declaration enables the Lexington-Fayette County Division of Emergency Management to provide and coordinate mutual aid to communities throughout the Commonwealth.
Preparedness information is available via Lexington Emergency Management’s website www.BeReadyLexington.com, Facebook page: Lexington KY Emergency Management and X account: @LexKYEM.
