**UPDATE** I-75 North and Southbound lanes have been reopened. The Laurel County Sheriff's Office says the search for the suspect continues.

Authorities are reporting that several people have been shot in Laurel County, Kentucky.

I-75 had been shut down in both directions due to an active shooter situation. The interstate has since been reopened to traffic.

On Facebook, London Mayor Randall Weddle said, " Avoid US Highway 25 as well North and South between London And Livingston."

Governor Beshear posted on X, formerly Twitter, "Kentucky, we are aware of a shooting on I-75 in Laurel County. Law enforcement has shut the interstate down in both directions at exit 49. Please avoid the area. We will provide more details once they are available."

Kentucky State Police Trooper Scottie Pennington wrote on Facebook: "The Suspect has not been caught at this time we are urging people to stay inside."

Authorities are searching for 32-year-old Joseph Couch, whom they describe as a person of interest.
