FEMA is running Disaster Recovery Centers across Kentucky this week to help assist victims of the Memorial Day severe storms.

It comes as part of a federal disaster declaration. The centers will help victims with financial assistance for home repairs or other, uninsured losses.

Centers in Caldwell, Trigg, Greenup, Hopkins County and Muhlenberg counties are running from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice. Mobile centers in Bowling Green, Hopkinsville and Corbin are also running until the end of the week.

FEMA spokesperson Gerard Hamminks says in-person visits can help those who are struggling to get through the process.

“Just by having that dialog with someone that's right in front of you, they can help guide you through the various types of assistance.”

Those affected can also apply for assistance by calling 800-621-3362, visiting disasterassistance dot gov or downloading the FEMA mobile app.

More information on where to find the nearest Disaster Recovery Center is available here.

Editor’s note: A previous version of the story stated all FEMA recovery centers would close by the end of the week. That's only the case for the mobile centers in Corbin, Hopkinsville and Bowling Green. The rest will stay open until further notice.
