eku.edu

Volunteers and supplies are pouring into the flood-stricken areas of eastern Kentucky. A nearby University is pitching in with a pair of donation drives Thursday. Many of the students who attend Eastern Kentucky University are from the flood damaged region.

Bryan Makinen is the associate vice president for facilities management and safety at the university. He said there is a specific list of items they are collecting.

“Right they have expressed a need for bottled water, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products as well as non-perishable food items are the things we know they have specifically requested right now for fulfilling this first need.”

He sad they have reached out leaders throughout Madison County and surrounding communities.

“To solicit specific donations to help our fellow Kentuckians who were impacted by the devastating floods. These are counties that are directly within EKU service regions.”

The drives will be held from 8AM until 4PM. One will be held in Richmond at the EKU Center for the Arts and another will be in Berea at the Berea Fire Station One.
