Bevin Responds to Ethics Complaint During Newport Visit

Creative Commons

He stopped in Newport today where a large portion of the conversation focused on taxes. A bill earlier this year aiming to increase the gas tax for road improvements stalled out, but Bevin expects something similar will come up again.

Bevin also responded to an ethics complaint filed against him by the Kentucky Democratic party over a tweet supporting embattled Congressman Andy Barr's re-election.

The Kentucky Democratic Party filed the complaint this week arguing a tweet Bevin wrote from his official account violates a state law against using state resources for campaigning.

Bevin suggests the complaint is a campaign tactic and called it "nonsense."

The tweet - which has since been removed - included a picture from President Donald Trump's weekend rally in Richmond. In it he said he was at Eastern Kentucky University with the president supporting Congressman Andy Barr who is up for re-election in November.
