Western Kentucky University is launching a bachelor’s degree in Workforce Administration. The program is designed to meets the needs of the state’s economy by filling more positions in high-demand jobs such as advanced manufacturing, business and IT, construction, healthcare, transportation, and logistics. WKU President Timothy Caboni says the program is completely online and open to students who already have an associate of science degree.
"It will be available to adult learners across the commonwealth for $7,500. That tuition is the lowest per credit hour rate of any four-year institution in the state," he said.
Dr. Caboni says the Workforce Administration degree can be completed in 15 months and will be especially beneficial to WKU’s regional markets in Owensboro, Elizabethtown, and Glasgow by allowing Kentuckians to earn their degree and work in the communities where they live.
"One of the most pressing concerns I've encountered since I arrived last year is the thousands of open jobs across the commonwealth and the great need for an educated workforce. While it's true many of those positions don't require a bachelor's degree, a significant number do," he said.
