Digital advances coming to land records in Fayette County Clerk's Office

The Fayette County Clerk’s Office is implementing a new land record system. It is used to track all permanent records such as deeds, plats, and mortgages.

Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins said state legislation passed in 2019 revamped the fee structure as it relates to permanent documents. A separate document storage fee was established to help modernize Clerks’ offices. Records that have been scanned digitally will now be accessible to the public for free. The information can be gathered through the Fayette County Clerk’s website.

Records have been scanned as far back as 1990. With the technological foundation in place, Blevins said efforts can be made to digitize documents dating back much further to the late 1700’s. In addition to real estate records, citizens married in Fayette County after July 1989 can order a certified copy of their marriage license through the new site.
