Lexington Hits Another High Mark In COVID-19 Cases

Fayette County health officials report another record high in Lexington’s daily coronavirus cases count.

Fayette County Health Department Spokesman Kevin Hall says 116 new COVID-19 cases were recorded Monday.  The previous high for Lexington was reported last Thursday with 100 cases.  More than a dozen of the largest daily counts took place in July.

In a statement, Hall said, quote, “Unless we all take action to protect ourselves and loved ones, Lexington will likely continue to have more cases, leading to potential limitations in the capacity of our healthcare delivery system to take care of our sickest patients.”

The health department continues to urge Lexington residents to wear a cloth mask in public, wash hands often, and avoid close contact with others.?

In his daily briefings, Governor Beshear has been critical of recent large gatherings in Lexington where people were photographed not wearing masks or social distancing.
