Baptist Health Hospital in Paducah has set up the first coronavirus testing site in McCracken County.
Hospital spokesperson Angie Timmons said the hospital has received about 1,000 tests from a commercial lab in North Carolina, with plans to receive more.
The testing site is located behind the hospital’s imaging center. But those who want to be tested need to have their symptoms screened first by a primary care provider. People who have not been screened will be sent to the hospital’s urgent care instead of the testing site.
The hospital also started restricting visitation Wednesday to limit the spread of coronavirus. New mothers, children, dependent adults, and people at the end of life are allowed one visitor, with visitors screened at specific hospital entrances.
