Two environmental nonprofits cut the ribbon on new office space in Winchester last weekend.
It marks a collaboration between the Kentucky Riverkeepers and the Livelihoods Knowledge Exchange Network, otherwise known as LiKEN.
It’s part of a $3 million dollar grant awarded last year from the USDA Forest Service meant to support watershed and forestry management.
LiKEN executive director Betsy Taylor says they want to work directly with small landowners.
“Part of the application was to provide direct services to landowners, small landowners, so that they can connect to folks that can help them really develop a forest management plan and get long term income from their forests,” Taylor said.
Members say they want to use the space as a regional headquarters, where they can connect with local communities.
