After a week of nearly-steady rain, Woodford County officials are predicting the highest water levels for the Kentucky River in more than 50 years. Drew Chandler is the county emergency management director.
“We've got a lot of folks displaced. We've got a lot of homes with water up to the roofs. We've got shelter operations at the Senior Center. We're looking to possibly expand that or maybe move it to a better-suited location.”
Chandler said the river is expected to reach 49-and-a-half feet – a foot above the record of 48-and-a-half set in 1978. Judge-Executive James Kay said there are no reports of injuries or deaths.
