The National Weather Service says severe storms are expected throughout Kentucky starting Wednesday evening.
Four to six inches of rain are expected in parts of the eastern region. High winds and tornadoes are also possible.
More rounds of storms are possible through Sunday, which could cause flash flooding or river flooding.
Louisville meteorologist Ryan Sharp says the worst of the storms is forecasted to hit the state’s western region.
“You don't have that axis of heaviest rainfall over there. Now, four to six inches of rain is not anything to sneeze at either. And if, for whatever reason, that shifts a little bit further, the main axis shifts a little bit further east, you guys could get more rain,” Sharp said.
Sharp says to keep up with the forecast in the meantime. He also says to keep essentials on hand in case flood evacuations are necessary. That includes food, water and first aid kits.
