On Wednesday, the gymnasium at Inez Free Will Baptist Church was full of supplies for flood victims, many of which came from communities in North Carolina and Tennessee they'd helped after Hurricane Helene last fall.

In Martin County, food, water and other supplies were distributed to flood victims at four churches Wednesday. One of those sites is the gymnasium of Inez Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Nathan Harless said he’s amazed by the support from folks in the community and other states.

“The outpouring of people in our county has been absolutely amazing. Not just our county, but we got some fine folks in North Carolina and Tennessee that we were able to do some assistance with them earlier, when they got their impact with their natural disaster.”

Harless communities in Tennessee and North Carolina they’d helped after Hurricane Helene offered assistance, so four box trailers and a 26-foot U-Haul went to those states and came back loaded with supplies.

“I guess they just felt like these folks around here poured out to them, and now we're going to, we're going to return the favor and pour out into us. And that's how God works. Man, he opens up doors we can’t open, he closes doors we can’t. He's big, and we give Him all the glory.”

Other distribution sites were Calvary Temple Church in Lovely, Turkey Creek Nazarene Church and Wolf Creek Community Church. Harless and longtime friend Dwayne Mills are providing updates via social media each day.
