A Kentucky plant is at the center of A Food and Drug Administration salmonella investigation. The multistate outbreak of salmonella is linked to popular peanut butter products.

J.M. Smucker Co. has issued a recall connected to Jif peanut butter products produced at the company’s facility in Lexington. The recalled peanut butter was distributed nationwide in retail stores and other outlets.

The products have lot codes between 1274425 – 2140425. Lot codes are included alongside best-if-used-by date.

The possibly affected products include various peanut butter products and Jif branded honey. A full list can be found here at the FDA website.

Most people infected with salmonella develop diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps and start seeing symptoms around 12-72 hours after infection.

If you have any of these products in your home, they should be disposed of immediately. If you would like to report reactions, you can visit www.jif.com/contact-us or call 800-828-9980 Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Cases have been reported in Ohio, Washington, Missouri, Texas, Illinois, New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, North and South Carolina and Georgia. So far, no cases have been reported in Kentucky.
