Kentucky State Police are saying the man charged in the shooting death of the daughter of a former state lawmaker admitted to the killing after his arrest.

23-year-old Shannon Gilday was arrested last week in the shooting death of Jordan Morgan in Richmond. He appeared in court Wednesday where a judge ruled there was probable cause to support the state’s case against him.

The lead detective on the case testified that Gilday was interviewed for around three hours after his arrest and he confessed to entering the home and killing Morgan and shooting and wounding her father, former state representative Wesley Morgan.

Gilday had previously entered a not guilty plea. A public defender has been appointed to his case. The judge has moved the case on to a Madison County Grand Jury.
