Keeneland Officials Pleased With Yearling Sales

keeneland.com

Keeneland officials are hailing the 12-day September yearling sale as a major success.

The globally-recognized fall bidding brought prices not seen in almost a decade.

Gross receipts for the two week horse sale exceeded $300 million for the first time since 2008.  A total of 13 seven-figure horses were sold.  The September sales event also produced record average and median prices.

The $307.8 million gross sales amounted to an almost 13 percent increase over the 2016 yearling sale.

Keeneland Vice President of Racing and Sales Bob Elliston said the September Sale exceeded expectations in every aspect.

Now Keeneland officials turn their attention to this fall’s meet.  It gets underway on October 6.
