Rail Trail Bridge Work To Impact Travel Near Main Lexington Interchange

lexingtonky.gov

Work on the 280-foot Brighton Rail Trail Bridge next week is expected to impact travel around a heavily commercial area of Lexington.  Crews will be installing structural beams for the span which will cross Man O’ War Boulevard near Hamburg.

City Engineer Andrew Grunwald said the bridge will link the Liberty and Brighton East trails. “On both sides you’ll have mechanically stabilized earth walls that ramp up to it.  It will clean Man O War by about 18 feet.  The intention is to just let people have a free flow experience from the Liberty Trail over to the Brighton East Trail and not having to stop and cross Man O’ War Boulevard,” said Grunwald.

Intermittent closing of one lane of Man of War between Liberty Road and Pink Pigeon could occur next Tuesday and some short full lane closures on Wednesday.

Both directions along Man O’ War will be shut down from 10:00 p.m. Thursday until 6:00 a.m. Friday.  The bridge project is expected to be completed by this summer.

When finished it will pave the way for almost three miles of continuous trail for walkers, runners, and cyclists.
