The kitchen at the Paintsville Recreation Center is a busy place today. Volunteers are there preparing meals for those affected by flood waters this week. Bonnie Porter is director of the Paintsville Main Street Program. "We're just working to try to help everybody, it's a very sad to see the devastation here and the T.V. stations don't do it justice how really bad it is up here," said Porter.
Porter says volunteers were waiting on a group to come in Thursday morning. The city's Recreation Center has been a hub of activity this week. Porter says the response has been overwhelming. "I can't tell you what an awesome community we have and people from all over this state who have ties here. We are so very grateful and thankful that we live in a place where everybody wants to take care of each other," added Porter.
Porter says a fund has been established through the county judge's office to offer long term support for those affected by flooding. ?
