Lexington Mayor Names UK Administrator To Sixth District Council Seat

Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton has named Lisa Higgins-Hord to serve the council’s sixth district.  The University of Kentucky administrator will fill out the term of Angela Evans, who resigned last month to pursue a graduate degree at Princeton University.

Gorton said Higgins-Hord is a, quote, “strong leader who has considerable experience working with the community as Assistant Vice President for Community Engagement at UK.”

Noting recent attention given to the issue of systemic racism, Higgins-Hord said, it’s time to examine the effectiveness of city policies and practices and to challenge the systems and structures where inequity exists.   She will serve through December.  Sixth District Candidate David Kloiber, who has financial management experience as well as connections to community improvement projects, is un-opposed in the November election.?
