President Trump to Hold Rally in Louisville

Lexington Herald-Leader/Kentucky.com

President Donald Trump will be in Louisville, Kentucky Monday  evening.  As Cheri Lawson reports, the trip comes as the president is in what the White House calls ‘sell mode’ for the Republican healthcare bill, with a vote in the House planned for this week.

Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul has been outspoken in his opposition to the replacement bill because it doesn’t go far enough to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

Democrats are planning a protest outside Louisville's Freedom Hall.

Kentucky Democratic Party spokesperson Daniel Lowry says the Bluegrass State has become center stage for the healthcare debate.  He claims the state's implementation of the Affordable Care Act under former governor Steve Beshear made Kentuckians healthier and helped the state's economy. Lowry says, “We're talking about 13,000-plus jobs in the healthcare industry alone.”

Republican Governor Matt Bevin has described the Affordable Care Act as an "unmitigated disaster" and supports efforts by the President and congressional GOP leaders to replace it.
