Judy Flavell

Judy Flavell is glad to be back at WEKU, rejoining in 2022. She first worked with WEKU from 1989 to 1993 as part of her 35+ -year tenure in public media.

Judy is passionate about the power of community engagement in public media and the power of story to affect the quality of life in our personal lives and in the region WEKU serves.

She supports this work through the Membership department of WEKU, serving the donors who make the work of WEKU possible.

Judy started her public media career in college at WMKY (Morehead State Public Radio) and served for 17 years as Director of Community Engagement & Outreach with KET, spearheading early childhood and health initiatives.

While at KET, she was named National Outreach Director of the Year and was founding chair of the National Educational Telecommunications Association Outreach Council.

For seven years, she held the post of Executive Director at Habitat for Humanity of Madison & Clark Counties. A trained Health & Wellness Coach with The Mayo Clinic, she is pursuing her Masters of Public Health at Eastern Kentucky University, with a particular interest in health communication.

She teaches yoga and meditation, serves on faculty for the yoga teacher training programs at The Essence of Yoga Center, and volunteers as a leader with the Richmond Rotary Club.
