New Family Drug Court Comes To Jefferson County

Wikimedia Commons

Funding cuts ended Jefferson County’s family drug court nearly a decade ago, but a group has raised enough money to open a new court next month.

It’s called the Jefferson Family Recovery Court, and its goal is to help families fighting drug addiction by offering them wrap-around services. David Hawpe is the co-chair of the Jefferson Family Recovery Court campaign, and he says the city needs a court like this one.
“Instead of blowing up families by just simply sending someone to prison, what we hope is to keep the family intact while the offender recovers.”
Hawpe and others raised $403,000 to keep the court
