Berea Tops National Social Media Poll in Arts and Crafts

kentuckytourism.com

The city of Berea has taken top honors in a national social media contest.  The southern Madison County town tallied the highest vote total for its arts and crafts focus.

Over the past six weeks, 47 thousand 789 Facebook votes were tallied in the contest sponsored by Craft Retailers and Artists for Tomorrow or CRAFT.  Berea was chosen as the number one favorite town for crafts.  Gwen Heffner is with the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea.  “I think it just sort of underlies the fact that it has been a Seminole location for art and craft since the 18 hundreds really, since Berea College started their craft program.”

Heffner says Berea was running neck and neck with St. Petersburg Florida for the top spot right up until the end of the contest.  Also ranked in the on line contest was Louisville, coming in tenth.?
