UK sports squads will benefit from the athletics department's move to an LLC model, school officials say.

The University of Kentucky’s Athletics Department has a different name and a different business model.

UK’s Board of Trustees approved the athletics department’s request to become a limited liability company called Champions Blue LLC in late April. The move was made as the school prepares for the likely approval of a $2.8 billion NCAA antitrust settlement and supporters say it will help the school find new revenue. According to the Associated Press, the pending House case settlement will allow schools to share up to $20.5 million annually in Name, Image and Likeness funds.
