A crowd of hundreds converged in front of the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse at Lexington's Hands Off rally earlier this month at the Hands Off rally.

A series of political rallies protesting Trump administration policies and federal cuts to jobs is continuing Thursday evening at the Lexington courthouse downtown.

A group of activists are holding a rally in honor of May Day, which celebrates labor and workers’ rights.

Two similar rallies were held earlier this month by a group of organizers including the Bluegrass Activist Alliance, the American Federation of Teachers and 50501 Kentucky.

Both events attracted a few thousand people to downtown Lexington. Bluegrass Activist Alliance organizer Harry Neack says he expects that momentum to continue.

“The point of this isn't one or two sort of rallies where a bunch of people show up and we're all frustrated and then we can be ignored. The point is to keep this going,” Neack said.

Neack says this event’s focus is working people and labor unions in contrast to billionaire interests.

“We've asked our speakers to come and talk, give us, inform us even about what things are happening to them that we are unaware of. We're not part of the unions,” Neack said.

The rally is scheduled for this evening from 4 to 7 p.m. outside the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse in Lexington.
