At least four individuals have been killed in Saturday’s flooding in Central Kentucky.

The Richmond Police Department confirmed Saturday evening two people were found dead in a basement home earlier in the day.

Gov. Andy Beshear said on X, formerly Twitter, a third death had been confirmed in Madison County and another in Jackson County.

Richmond police and fire, along with Madison County EMS, responded to aid calls for individuals trapped in flooded homes around 10 a.m. Saturday in the area of Summit Street and Wellington Court.

Several people were rescued, Richmond police report, but two people were found dead in a flooded home.

The victims, an adult male and an adult female, have not yet been publicly identified.

"Our condolences go out to these families and all those impacted by this morning's flood emergency. We want to remind our community that severe weather is still on its way this evening, with more expected rainfall," police said in a statement. "Talk to your families and loved ones about flood plans so they can be prepared for any emergencies that arise this evening."

The confirmed deaths in Richmond come hours after Beshear declared a state of emergency due to heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

In his report Saturday afternoon, Beshear said at least one motorist had been swept away by floodwaters and died.

This is a developing report.
