EKU Football Colonels to host holiday weekend playoff game

Stu Johnson

For the first time in eight years, the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels are headed to the football playoffs.

With EKU’s 45-38 win over Kennesaw State Saturday, Eastern secured a spot in the football playoffs. Eastern will play host to Gardner Webb next Saturday afternoon. It will mark the 22nd time in school history Eastern has competed in the playoffs. The 7-4 Colonels earned one of 11 automatic qualifier berths in the 24-team field. Gardner Webb comes into the 5:00 game at six and five, winning four in a row. The last time EKU won a football playoff game was in 1994 against Boston University.
