Double Cross Over Diamond Interchange Could Come to Leestown Road

transportation.ky.gov

A major Lexington roadway could be a candidate for a unique interchange project.  Construction continues to widen a portion of Leestown Road, just outside New Circle Road.  Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Mike Hancock says the Leestown-New Circle Road interchange could one day see a crossover diamond design.  "So, it's just something to think about for the future.  Right now, we want to get Leestown widened and get the road completed out to Masterson Station and then we'll start looking at other potential improvements in the corridor," said Hancock.

Hancock says the work to widen a section of Leestown Road should be completed by the end of 2015 but is unable to pin down a firm completion date right now.  "This is just a guess, because a lot of construction underway, but I would say late next summer.  So, hopefully near the end of 2015, we'll see that project begin to get to the point where the residents can use it, the new facility well," added Hancock.

Hancock says any serious consideration for a double crossover diamond at Leestown and New Circle will come after road widening work is finished. ?
