Fayette County Health Department Expanding No Charge Drive Thru Flu Shot Eligibility

Officials with the Fayette County Health Department announced Tuesday an expansion of eligibility for this weekend’s drive thru free flu shot clinic.  The flu shot event is scheduled from 9:00 to 2:00 Saturday at Consolidated Baptist Church on Russell Cave Road.

Initially proposed for only high risk people age 13 and older, Health Department Spokesman Kevin Hall said it’s now open to anyone 13 and over.  Hall added pre-registration at LFCHD.ORG is required. “We understand that there could be some people in the high risk group that might not be able to register now, but we couldn’t just keep the slots open until the very end.  We have to be able to plan for our staff.  We have to be able to plan for the PPE available to protect people from COVID-19,” said Hall.

Hall said, as of Tuesday, 200 of the 400 slots had been reserved for high risk individuals.  Beginning next Monday, Hall says free flu shots will be available, by appointment only, at the health department clinic off Newtown Pike.
