Debris continues to be cleared along Tates Creek in Madison County following last weekend's severe flash floods.

County coroners have identified the four victims of deadly flash floods that hit Central Kentucky over the weekend.

Three of those killed were in Madison County, while the fourth death occurred in Jackson County. Richmond and Madison County officials have said emergency crews have wrapped rescue efforts and they do not expect the death toll to rise.

Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said two of the victims were found in basement apartments on University Drive, near Eastern Kentucky University. They were John Powell, a 57-year-old man, and Patricia Beck, a 51-year-old woman. Cornelison said both are assumed to have died from drowning.

Garnett Isbell, a 73-year-old man, died after his car was swept off the highway near Tates Creek Road in Richmond.

In Jackson County, Anthony “Tony” Smith, a 60-year-old man, died in a car accident during the flood. Jackson County Coroner Conley Tyra said the wreck was not directly connected to the flood, but Gov. Andy Beshear counted the death among the victims in a Saturday social media post.
