Thunderstorms are expected across all of Kentucky Saturday night and into Sunday.

The National Weather Service reports that severe weather isn’t likely, but high winds and lightning are predicted.

Heavier rainfall is expected west of Louisville, with the weather dying down as the storm travels from west to east.

“As the line approaches us, everyone should see rain with it. It should be a pretty developed line of precipitation, but you will likely see thunderstorms becoming less, kind of dying off as it moves west to east,” NWS meteorologist Kyle Wilkins said.

Wilkins said this storm will have stronger winds than most storms this season, but the late time of day should stabilize things.

“By the time you get over towards the Bluegrass, you could still have thunderstorms and gusty winds, but I'm not so concerned with tornadoes and severe winds,” he said.

Wilkins said to be aware of lightning and to be careful on interstates to avoid hydroplaning.
