Governor Beshear said the Trump Administration will continue the summer food service program, which is hosted by schools and approved community partners in low-income areas.
“We've been approved by the federal government to continue our summer food program, which feeds 450,000 children while schools are closed for summer break.”
A news release from the governor’s office said families of eligible students will also receive a one-time, $120 benefit to purchase nutritious food.
“Students aged six to 18, who are current recipients of SNAP, the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program or kinship care, are going to be automatically enrolled in the program.”
Families with students who aren’t automatically enrolled can apply through August 15.
