New FEMA disaster recovery centers open for April storm victims

FEMA.gov

More disaster recovery centers are open for victims of April’s severe storms.

They’re mostly open in western Kentucky counties like Bullitt, Jefferson, Grayson, McLean and Warren. A center is also open in central Kentucky, in Lincoln County.

Staffers are also available to advise victims of Friday’s tornadoes on how to submit their application. FEMA recommends tornado victims to not apply for assistance until a federal disaster declaration is announced.

FEMA spokesperson Maria Padron says they offer many different services.

“The centers are really good for recovery because it is not only FEMA,” she said. “We have other federal agencies such as the Small Business Administration, the IRS.”

The deadline for victims of April storms to apply for assistance is June 25.

Victims can also apply by going online, calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 or downloading the mobile app.
