Emergency responders working on flood rescue and recovery across Kentucky say they’ve been working through Tuesday’s snowfall.
The National Weather Service says another one to two inches of snow is expected in eastern Kentucky through Thursday. That comes as roads are still flooded in some areas like Estill County.
“We’re just trying to make sure that those responders get enough rest to be able to do the things that they need to do. But I think as far as the morale goes, they may get down at times, but they're going to do what needs to be done to make sure the community gets back on its feet,” Estill County EMA Director Ronnie Riddell said.
Riddell says crews are still focusing on recovery in the meantime.
“Responders are actually out there responding to other things associated with snowfall and road departments trying to get roads cleared up. It’s making it pretty difficult,” he said.
Riddell says they’ve been fortunate enough to have zero rescue calls. They’re mostly in the process of identifying what homes were affected and providing assistance.
