Perry County and VA officials broke ground on a new site for Hazard's Veterans Affairs Clinic.

Ground’s been broken on a new, 17-thousand square foot VA clinic in Hazard. It will replace the existing clinic, and a VA spokesperson says the new services they hope to offer will save some veterans the long drive to Lexington’s VA campuses.

According to a news release from the Ranier Companies, the clinic is part of a new commercial development that will include medical facilities, a school and several restaurants, some of which are already open.

The new VA clinic is expected to open in early 2025.
