Severe weather possible for central and eastern Kentucky

National Weather Service

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening throughout much of central and eastern Kentucky.

Officials with the National Weather Service said the main threat will come from damaging winds. They said an isolated tornado or hail cannot be ruled out.

The winds are already picking up in central Kentucky. Winds could gust up to 25-30 mph.

Cooler weather will be coming through after the storms with the high on Wednesday only reaching the mid 60’s in central Kentucky and the mid 70’s in eastern parts of the state.

Thunderstorms are expected to pick up again on Friday and bring rain throughout much of Saturday.
