New women’s rehab facility opening in Winchester

New Day Recovery Center

Eastern Kentucky is often considered ground zero for the opioid epidemic. Experts say drug addiction is a serious problem for the region. A new women’s rehabilitation center is opening in Winchester. Jennifer Shirley is the marketing manager for the New Day Recovery Center. She said they look at clients as individuals.

“We’re huge believers in individualized therapy. Let’s say someone comes in and they enjoy 12 steps or that’s worked for them in the past and they definitely have that option.” Shirley said, “It’s pretty much tailored to whatever fits that person and their recovery process.”

The New Day Recovery Center is a women’s only facility. Shirley said it is important the clients feel safe during their treatment.

“It gives the women a sense of security. Sometimes women go through some trauma being in certain situations dealing with addiction and things like that, so there we really just provide a haven.”

Shirley says this facility is a residential facility. They also deal with substance abuse and mental issues. The facility can accommodate up to 36 women at the center.
