Wendell Ford, Former Ky Senator and Governor, Dies at 90

A man considered one of the most consequential Kentucky politicians of the 20th century is dead at the age of 90.

Former governor and U.S. Senator Wendell Ford died early this morning in his hometown of Owensboro.

The Democrat served 24 years in the Senate, where he was a strong defender of the tobacco industry.

Ford announced in July that he was undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer.
