Kentucky's Lieutenant Governor is resigning his state government position to make a move to Washington.  His replacement is someone with a great deal of experience in Frankfort.

Jerry Abramson will resign on Thursday, November 13th to become Deputy Assistant to President Obama and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House.  He told a packed capital room Thursday morning he will be a conduit for county and city officials from all 50 states."What was discussed with me is we have a lot of mayors and a lot of county officials and a lot of governors and lieutenant governors who want to join with the White House on the domestic agenda."

Governor Beshear has tapped former state Auditor Crit Luallen to serve as Lieutenant Governor.  Luallen has previously ruled out a run for governor next year and she reaffirmed it again today.  "I've made my intentions clear.  I announced in May that I'm not running for governor in 15.  I have no plans to run for office next year."

Luallen says she and the governor have committed to not get involved if there's a democratic gubernatorial primary, but both will be working to help the democratic nominee in the general election.  Governor Beshear says he considered no one beside Luallen to fill the Lieutenant Governor's position.
