EKU Hosts First Home Football Game With Coronavirus Guidelines

ekusports.com

The Eastern Kentucky University Colonels play host for the first time this fall football season Saturday afternoon at Roy Kidd Stadium.  The game between EKU and Houston Baptist University is scheduled to kickoff at 3:00.

Eastern Athletics Director Matt Roan says facility capacity is limited to 20% and fans will be separated out. “You know they’ll be socially distanced inside the stands.  Our boxes will have plexiglass in between them.  Fans will be asked to wear masks at all times unless eating or drinking.  When you’re approaching concession stands, they’ll be a right way to enter and a right way to exit.  Same thing restrooms,” said Roan.

Roan noted cheerleaders and the band will be in a section of the stands during the contest.    “They will not be able to be on the field for pre-game and halftime performances.  But, they will perform from the stands at those times.  Certainly they’ll play throughout the game.  And then there will a post-game performance by our marching band following the game,” explained Roan.

As far as the health of the football team, Roan said Thursday the percentage of positive cases has been very low.

The Colonels enter the game one and two, coming off a win last weekend against The Citadel.  Houston Baptist is winless after playing three straight games against Football Bowl Subdivision schools.?
