Keeneland And Kentucky Downs Seek Approval For Corbin And Williamsburg Facilities

Keeneland and Kentucky Downs’ majority owners announced Monday the filing of an application for a racing license and proposed racetrack construction. The racing facility and related track extension would be situated in Corbin and Williamsburg.

The proposed facilities would feature live Standardbred racing and historical racing machines for visitors from Kentucky and outside the Commonwealth.

Representatives from each racing association are working with state and local officials on a number of incentives and necessary infrastructure improvements to bring the facilities to fruition.  The venture is also working with local investors to enhance the magnitude of a regional impact.

Each facility is contingent on an initial pari-mutuel racing license by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.?  If approved by the commission the track and historical racing in Corbin and historical racing in Williamsburg could be up and running within 18 months.
