EKU Battling For A Spot In Postseason Tourney

Eastern Kentucky University Athletics

It’s senior night for Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team Saturday evening.  It will be a time to recognize the Richmond school’s all-time leading scorer in what would be considered one of his biggest games as a Colonel.

Senior big man Nick Mayo and his teammates will be playing for something Saturday night that hasn’t happened during the Oakland Maine player’s career at EKU.  To play in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament.  To have a shot at a trip to Evansville, Indiana, Eastern would greatly improve its chances with a win over in-state rival Morehead State.

The Colonels come into the seven o clock tipoff, off an emotional two-point victory over Austin Peay.  The Governors came into the game tied for second in the league.  Eastern, meanwhile, is fighting for one of the last spots in the OVC post-season tournament.

In addition to Mayo, Colonel fans will also say good-bye to Richmond’s Kirkland Humphrey.
