The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team has been tabbed to finish sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference this season. As The ranking came during the annual OVC Media Day event in Evansville, Indiana.
Conference coaches and sports information directors placed the Colonels midway in the 12 team league. Eastern is under the guidance of first year head coach A.W. Hamilton. The Belmont Bruins have been chosen the OVC preseason favorite, just edging out defending conference champion Murray State.
EKU senior forward Nick Mayo has been voted to the Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Team. The Oakland, Maine player enters his senior season on pace to become the school’s all time leading scorer. Eastern opens the regular season November seventh by hosting Marshall.
