A security threat on the Eastern Kentucky University campus has prompted officials to move Thursday's football game to Georgetown College.
EKU says the decision was due to an escalating threat after the discovery of graffiti on campus that threatened to "kill all" this week.
The venue change comes following an emotional loss to the University of Kentucky on Saturday. During this week’s OVC teleconference, EKU Head Coach Dean Hood said senior cornerback Stanley Absanon held his own against UK.
“We’ve got to play dang near perfect on special teams if we want to give our team a chance to win," said Hood. "And for him to not only play perfect and be even, which is, you would come out of there feeling good, you know I thought we had an edge with him in the returning game.”
Tech Head Coach Watson Brown said this Eastern team presents a sizeable challenge. “In the last four, we’ve gone two and two with them," said Brown. "So we’ve hung in there with these guys and not many people do that. But, I think this is the best, of the five years, this is the best Eastern Kentucky team that I’ve seen them have.”
The Colonels will host the Golden Eagles from Tennessee Tech Thursday. The game will be held at Toyota Stadium in Georgetown, again due to a security threat. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
EKU’s campuses are closed for the remainder of the week.
